The Players is unofficially known as the fifth major with the tournament being played on the famed TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course with the standout island green par-3.

The Players Championship dates back to 1974 when first staged as the Tournament Players Championship.

An elite field tees it up at Sawgrass each year for the richest tournament in world golf, with the roll of honour reading like a who’s who of the game.

Cameron Smith is the reigning champion after winning in 2022, but won’t be in action after switching to LIV Golf.

The Players Championship Golf Format & Schedule

The Players Championship will be played over four rounds / 72 holes at TPC Sawgrass with a cut after the opening two rounds.
