TaylorMade are breaking new ground with the release of the TaylorMade M5 irons and TaylorMade M6 irons in 2019 featuring Speed Bridge technology.

Hot on the heels of new of the release of the TaylorMade M5 and M6 drivers featuring Speed Injected Twist Face technology for the first time, the irons in the range will also have ground-breaking technology too.

The M5 and M6 irons will feature TaylorMade’s revolutionary Speed Bridge technology to “both further increase distance and enhance sound and feel” compared to the predecessor the TaylorMade M3 and M4 irons.

What is Speed Bridge Technology?

In what TaylorMade are calling a breakthrough in iron engineering, the Speed Bridge technology that forms part of the M5 and M6 design is essentially the strengthening of the cavity in the club head. They are the first manufacturer to come up with the design process.

TaylorMade have achieved the strengthening of the cavity by inserting a structural beam which spans the cavity back and connects the back bar to the topline. The end result is the stabilising of the iron to reduce vibration through impact.

That result is an iron which not only sounds and feels better, but also which produces increased ball speed. TaylorMade claim they have produced the “most flexible Speed Pocket to date” with the design increasing the forgiveness of the iron as well as the flexibility of the face itself.

“At TaylorMade, we have always strived to push the performance envelope to give players maximum distance and forgiveness in our game improvement irons,” said Matt Bovee, Senior Manager, Product Creation. “Our new SPEED BRIDGE technology allows us to do exactly that while improving sound and feel at the same time. Distance has never felt as good as it does with the M6 irons.”

TaylorMade M5 and M6 Irons Verdict

The irons, which a multi-material constructions, also have a HYBRAR damper to minimise vibration and produce a soft, but solid, feel on shots. Distance and forgiveness are the buzz words and they look to certainly have achieved that.

The centre of gravity has been lowered than in previous versions of the irons, the face is now ultra-thin with Inverted Cone Technology (ICT) and a Fluted Hosel design has been used. All combine to produce a high launch angle and penetrating ball flight.

The TaylorMade M5 irons and M6 irons will go on sale in Spring 2019 and will be popular given the improvements made on the already impressive M3 and M4 irons first released in 2019. They will be available in 4-PW.
