The event has been a part PGA Tour since first debuting in 1944 when known as the Texas Victory Open and won by the man after which it is now named – Byron Nelson.

The tournament has previously been known as the Texas Victory Open, Dallas Invitational, Dallas Centennial Open, Texas International Open, Dallas Open Invitational, Byron Nelson Golf Classic, GTE Byron Nelson Golf Classic, Verizon Byron Nelson Classic, EDS Byron Nelson Championship and HP Byron Nelson Championship.

The Byron Nelson is played at TPC Craig Ranch in Dallas, Texas, having been switched to the venue for the first time in 2021.

KH Lee is the defending champion having become the most recent winning of the event in 2021 and 2022.

The Byron Nelson will be played over four rounds / 72 holes at the par-72 TPC Craig Ranch in Dallas, Texas, with a cut after the opening two rounds.

• Day 1 – Thursday, May 11
• Day 2 – Friday, May 12
• Day 3 – Saturday, May 13
• Day 4 – Sunday, May 14

The tournament carries a total prize fund of $9,500,000 USD.
