2023 WGC Match Play Format, Draw & Field (COMPLETE Guide)
Full guide to the WGC Match Play from Austin Country Club
The 2023 WGC Match Play draw has been complete with 64 of the world’s best golfers set up bid for glory at Austin Country Club in Texas.
The PGA Tour‘s annual match play event features 64 players from the top 77 in the Official World Golf Rankings and they will go head to head over five days in Texas.
World number one Scottie Scheffler headlines the line-up as he bids to defend the WGC Match Play title he won in 2022.

WGC Match Play Format
The 64 players are drawn into 16 groups of four players. Each player will play the other in the group in a round robin format across Wednesday, March 22, Thursday, March 23, and Friday, March 24.
The top players in each group progresses to the knockout stages with last 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and final played on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26.
Each game is a match play format with all matches played over 18 holes.
WGC Match Play Field
Justin Thomas and Justin Rose, both world top 64 players, have decided not to play.
Others who would have made the final field are not eligible having moved to LIV Golf with Cameron Smith, Joaquin Niemann, Abraham Ancer, Thomas Pieters, Talor Gooch, Mito Pereira, Harold Varner III, Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Dean Burmester and Jason Kokrak missing out.
