TaylorMade Tour Response Ball Review

New ball from TaylorMade offering premium performance at an affordable price.

TaylorMade Tour Response Balls

TaylorMade Tour Response golf balls were released in early 2020 to offer regular golfers a premium product at an affordable price.

The TaylorMade TP5 will remain the tour standard ball played by the world’s best, but the Tour Response and fellow newcomer the TaylorMade Soft Response will be the mass market offerings.

The Tour Response is a 3-layer ball, compared to the 5-layer TP5 and TP5X, but it plays very similarly and is a reasonably priced alternative for the everyday golfer.

What TaylorMade say about the Tour Response:

“Every golf ball used on Tour has a urethane cover, made for premium feel and increased spin around the greens. Now we’re making those same performance standards available at a price that appeals to all golfers.

“Utilising a technology similar to the hottest Tour ball in golf (TP5 & TP5x), the 3-piece Tour Response ball is designed to deliver fast ball speeds.

“A Tour-quality golf ball with a 100% cast urethane cover, designed for high performance at a lower price.”

TaylorMade Tour Response Design

The Tour Response has been designed using a lot of the traits of the TP5, TaylorMade’s number one ball.

The big difference is that the TaylorMade Tour Response is a 3-layer ball with 100% urethane cover, an ultra low 40 compression soft core and a firmer Speedmantle layer to help produce increased ball speeds and more distance.

The result is not only more distance, but also a higher launch angle, consistent ball striking and increased spin on wedge shots around the green.

The Tour Response is available in both white and yellow colours.

Verdict: Are the Tour Response Golf Balls any good?

There’s no doubting how impressive the TP5 balls are and continue to be, but there has been a large hole in the TaylorMade golf ball range for some time.

Now that has been filled by the impressive Tour Response, and the Soft Response. The 3-layer ball offers impressive performance across the board from tee to green, but significantly comes at a mid-market price point.

If you are looking for a new ball to help enhance your game in 2020, give the TaylorMade Tour Response serious consideration.
