TaylorMade SIM 2 drivers will be the second edition of the popular range after being revealed ahead of 2021 launch.

The TaylorMade SIM broke new ground when launched in 2020, taking on the Twist Face Technology in a driver head designed for Shape In Motion – where the SIM name came from.

The SIM 2 range builds on its predecessor as the next evolution from TaylorMade. It also features fairway woods, rescues and irons once again.

The 2021 release will once again feature the SIM, Max and Max D driver models. There is also the SIM 2 Max Women’s Driver and a SIM Max D version.

TaylorMade SIM 2 Driver Review

The SIM 2 driver has a very similar look to original SIM with the now expected black and white crown from TaylorMade – although interestingly we get a light blue flash too.

The SIM 2 has been designed with a lightweight but high strength aluminum crown. The “Forged Ring Construction” connects the rear weight, carbon sole, crown and a milled face in one clubhead.

Twist Face Technology and Inertia Generator have been retained from the previous version of the SIM, but one important change is the design of the Speed Pocket.

The key aerodynamic feature, which helps produce greater clubhead speeds, has been made bigger in the SIM 2 with a 16g steel weight positioned on the Inertia Generator.

The moveable weight track in the SIM has been replaced with a fixed weight in the SIM 2. It has also been moved to the centre, and results in “High MOI – Low Spin” with forgiveness and power the key promise.

There is a new toe-side Speed Injection Port to help increase ball speeds. This has been pushed to the maximum threshold of legal levels in a driver.

The SIM 2 is available in 8-degree, 9-degree and 10.5-degree options with an adjustable hosel.

TaylorMade SIM 2 Max Driver Review

There are a few subtle differences between the SIM and Max models in the range, the most notable being the location and the weight of the fixed weight.

Like the SIM, the Speed Pocket is bigger than in previous models. The Twist Face Technology and Inertia Generator is present in the Max driver to maximise speed of the tee.

In the Max, the weight is closer to the heel and is 24g in weight, as opposed to the 16g in the standard model. The weight helps to produce optimal launch and spin properties from the Max model.

The positioning of the back weight has resulted in the “Low Spin” promise being removed from this model, but “High MOI” is still a key feature.

The SIM 2 Max driver is available in 9-degree, 10.5-degree and 12-degree options with an adjustable hosel.

TaylorMade SIM 2 Max D Driver Review

The SIM 2 Max D is the continuation of TaylorMade providing a draw bias drivers, something they first offered in the original Shape In Motion series.

Compared to the Max driver, Inertia Generator has been repositioned closer to the heel in the draw model to promote the right-to-left shot shape.

The fixed rear weight in the Max D driver is 22g and it has been moved closer to the heel to help provide the draw set up.

The design encourages a heel CG that is both low and back for more forgiveness than the Max model.

The SIM 2 Max D driver is available in 9-degree, 10.5-degree and 12-degree options with an adjustable hosel.

TaylorMade SIM 2 Max Women’s Driver Review

TaylorMade are releasing a women’s version of the SIM 2 Max driver and the SIM Max D driver, with dedicated shafts to suit female golfers.

The design of the driver itself matches that of the Max model, but it is available is a range of lightweight shafts ideally suited to the swing speed of lady golfers.

The Max D is the draw bias version. Both models of the women’s drivers are available in 10.5-degree and 12-degree options with an adjustable hosel.
