TaylorMade SIM 2 Rescues Review (SIM 2 & SIM 2 Max Hybrids)

TaylorMade SIM 2 Rescues

Two models feature in the new TaylorMade SIM 2 rescues range launched in 2021. We take a look at the difference between the SIM 2 and SIM 2 Max models?

Improvement – more evolutionary than revolutionary – have been made from the first generation SIM, with the SIM 2 hybrids (SIM 2 and SIM 2 Max) set to offer more ball flight and workability than ever before.

Both models feature the V Steel design, but it has been updated in the 2021 rescues. As a result, weight has been redistributed to provide more forgiveness that its predecessor offered.

Forming part of the SIM 2 family along with drivers, fairways and irons, the rescues feature a dedicated Women’s SIM 2 Max Rescue in the latest release.

What TaylorMade say about the SIM 2 rescues:

“Why choose between control and distance when you can have them both? SIM2 Rescue is engineered for the player who wants it all: The distance and forgiveness of a hybrid, along with the workability and control of an iron.

“The Tour pedigree of SIM Max Rescue fuelled the development this next generation hybrid, drawing inspiration from Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and more.

The face is created from an ultra-strong C300 Steel to deliver a piercing ball flight as well as a larger sweet spot for maximising distance even on off-center strikes.

TaylorMade’s Thru-Slot Speed Pocket is also present in the latest generation to help deliver impressive ball speeds thanks to flexibility across the face.

The SIM 2 Rescue is available in 2-hybrid (17 degrees), 3-hybrid (19 degrees) and 4-hybrid (22 degrees) lofts. The adjustable hosel also offers up to 1.5 degrees of adjustability up and down.

TaylorMade SIM 2 Max Rescue Review

The SIM 2 Max Rescue has a slightly more squared off shape than the standard model, and as a result is more confidence inspiring for a wider range of golfers.

The Max is designed to offer more distance and thanks to a deeper CG produces a higher launch angle, a towering ball flight and more forgiveness.

The SIM 2 Max Rescue is available in 3-hybrid (19 degrees), 4-hybrid (22 degrees), 5-hybrid (25 degrees), 6-hybrid (28 degrees) and 7-hybrid (31 degrees) lofts. There is no adjustable hosel in the Max model.

Verdict: Are TaylorMade SIM 2 Rescues any good?

TaylorMade have some changes from the original design and the end outcome is a longer hybrid with more distance, increased forgiveness and more flexibility.

The SIM was an impressive performer and the two options in the SIM 2 range have only enhanced that further.

We prefer the adjustability of the SIM 2 model, with the adjustable hosel, over the Max but both are worthy of considering adding to the bag.
