You! A Golf Guru Book Review

You! A Golf Guru isn’t the average instruction book as the title may suggest…but the excellent array of stories and anecdotes serve to help improve any golfer’s game.

Author Phillip Rennett isn’t a golf professional. In fact he was a relative latecomer to the game.

But in his time playing the game, he has come to learn the various traits, habits and faux pas of golfers, and as a result the very reasons why we all make mistakes on the course week-after-week.

In his excellent 103-page book, Rennett reiterates throughout the golf should be enjoyed and devotes a significant portion of the chapters to underlining that our scores are dependent on our mood.

The opening words ask “Why do you play golf?” and Rennett attempts to reiterate to the readers the answer to that question.

With stories – and funny anecdotes – of late arrivals on the first tee, misjudgement of clubbing distances, mood management, losing control and not even bothering to play a shot sometimes.

All are true stories involving Rennett or his playing partners and it is hard not to find yourself remembering an exact moment when you experienced the same thing or something very similar.

Not only is You! A Golf Guru a brilliant read, it will also just remind you of one or two things that need fixing in your own game or mind. As he puts it: “Golf is all about enjoying yourself”.
