The ISPS Handa Championship was first held in 2022 as a Japan Golf Tour tournament only.

In 2023, it was co-sanctioned and that remains the case with the tournament part of the international swing of the 2024 DP heimsferð dagatal.

The first two editions took place at PGM Ishioka Golf Club in Omitama in Japan, but the tournament moves to the Taiheiyo Club in Gotemba for 2024.

Yuto Katsuragawa won in 2022, while as an alternative version in Europe, Pablo Larrazabal won the ISPS Handa Championship in Spain event.

Lucas Herbert is the defending champion after winning in 2023.
