The event debuted as part of the 2022 PGA Tour season when upgraded to PGA Tour status as it moved homes to Vidanta Vallarta.
Jon Rahm became the inaugural winner of the PGA Tour event at Vidanta Vallarta, and he is back to defend his crown in 2023.
The Mexico Open was first held in 1944 and was part of the Tour de las Americas, European Challenge Tour, Korn Ferry Tour before becoming part of the PGA Tour Latinoamerica in 2013.
