Baycurrent Classic 2026: Who Are The Leading Betting Odds Favourites?

Baycurrent Classic Flag

The 2026 Baycurrent Classic takes place this week at Yokohama Country Club in Japan from October 8‑11 with defending champion Xander Schauffele heading the betting.

The PGA Tour’s FedExCup Fall continues with a 72-player, no-cut event offering an $8 million purse in Japan this week.

Yokohama will play as a par 71 measuring 7,322 yards with the tree-lined layout placing a premium on positioning from the tee and precise iron play rather than distance alone.

Schauffele leads the market ahead of Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Hideki Matsuyama, Justin Thomas and Jacob Bridgeman.

Leading 2026 Baycurrent Classic Contenders

Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele heads the market and returns to defend the title he won at Yokohama in 2025. He closed with a 64 to finish at 19-under par, beating Max Greyserman by one shot.

That victory gives Schauffele the strongest recent course credentials among the featured contenders.

His task is to reproduce the scoring that separated him last year, particularly on a layout dominated by par 4s rather than plentiful par‑5 opportunities.

Another sharp approach performance would give him a strong platform for a successful defence.

Collin Morikawa

Yokohama’s emphasis on approach play makes Collin Morikawa an intriguing challenger.

With doglegs and elevated greens putting a premium on selecting the right targets, the route to contention is likely to involve controlled positioning followed by accurate irons.

If he converts those opportunities consistently, he could put the defending champion under pressure.

Wyndham Clark

Wyndham Clark arrives in Japan after featuring in the Presidents Cup at Medinah and having enjoyed a strong 2026 season.

The central challenge will be choosing when to attack. Yokohama offers opportunities to score, as last year’s winning total demonstrated, but its doglegs mean distance is most useful when it leaves the ball in the correct position.

A disciplined performance from the tee could give Clark the platform for a title challenge.

Hideki Matsuyama

Hideki Matsuyama will attract considerable home interest as he returns to Japan as a leading contender for victory.

Matsuyama brings encouraging recent consistency, having recorded six top‑20 finishes across his last 10 starts, including three consecutive top‑seven results before the final two Playoffs events.

That run makes him a compelling contender if he carries the same sharpness into the week in Japan.

Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas adds another established name to a strong field but his opportunity will depend on getting enough from Yokohama’s par‑4-heavy setup.

With only two par 5s, players cannot rely on those holes alone to build a winning score. Accurate approaches and a productive week on the greens should be essential if he is to challenge the favourites.

Jacob Bridgeman

Jacob Bridgeman rounds out the featured group as he looks for a victory on the PGA Tour.

Eight players finished at 14-under or better last year, suggesting that a title challenge from Bridgeman will require sustained birdie-making rather than simply avoiding mistakes.

If he keeps pace from the opening round, he could become a significant weekend contender.
