Best Golf Courses in Utah

Looking to play the best golf courses in Utah? GolfReviewsGuide.com picks out the top courses to play in Utah.

If you are looking for great golf courses in Utah, then you don’t have to look much further than Park City.

This area hosts many top golf courses and Park City is not far from Salt Lake City, meaning there is a nearby international airport as a landing pad.

In this list of the best golf courses in Utah, we didn’t allow the area to completely dominate and made sure to represent some other destinations in the state.

Utah is a state that offers both mountain elevation and desert so be sure to know what you are getting into before booking your plans.

1. Promontory Pete Dye Canyon Golf Course

Promontory Club Pete Dye Course

The best course in Utah is at Park City in the form of the Promontory Pete Dye Canyon Golf Course.

Named after the course’s architect, it is relatively new having opened in 2002. It is a par-72 course with a length of 7,690 yards.

Close to Lewis Peak, the distant scenery from near the course is of the mountains of Utah and they provide a nice backdrop.

With six different tees to drive off of, it seems that all skill levels are finding what they need at this venue and the praise has likewise followed.

This gem of a course has received numerous compliments and accolades over the years, including “Golf Development of the Year”.

2. Glenwild Golf Club & Spa

Glenwild Golf Club

The Glenwild Golf Club & Spa private golf course, one of the most exclusive golf courses in Utah, is among a contingent of impressive golf courses that are near Park City, Utah.

This course is Tom Fazio’s creation, the distinguished architect having designed this for a 2001 opening date.

The course is a par-71 test with a little bit of yardage to conquer at 7,564 yards in length.

Silver Summit is a part of the nearby scenery as are many other awe-inspiring mountains. At the course, there is water with both a creek and lakes.

Considered a difficult course by some, all skill levels have enjoyed Fazio’s creation in a location that is accessible given that it’s not far from Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC).

3. Victory Ranch Golf Club

The golf course at Victory Ranch Golf Club, a par-72 test with 7,599 yards in length, is our best rated course that’s not in close proximity to Park City.

Opened in 2009, this Kamas course was designed by Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead.

A mountain-links style experience, Victory Ranch is close to the Provo River and Wasatch Mountain State Park and offers stunning views.

Golfers that are lucky enough to play this course should expect regular elevation changes. Furthermore, fescue grass outlines many of the long fairways.

The opening hole of the course is an amazing introduction that invites a downward-sloping drive to kick off the round in style.

4. Promontory Painted Valley Golf Course

Back at the golfing Mecca known as Park City, we find our fourth pick for the state: the Jack Nicklaus designed Promontory Painted Valley Golf Course.

The course was only opened as recently as 2007, but it has been successful decade or more of business for this top class venue.

Certainly, the course architect had no problem with breaking from convention as Nicklaus designed one of immense length with 8,098 yards to survive.

You hardly ever see courses that long, even at the championship level, so those looking for an ultimate test should be considering this Park City course.

Patrons to the club have no doubt enjoyed the impressive scenery that comes with one of Utah’s most exclusive areas.

5. Sand Hollow Resort (Championship Course)

Sand Hollow Resort

The Sand Hollow Resort has three golf courses, the most distinguished being the Championship Course designed by John Fought and Andy Staples.

Located near Hurricane, the course opened in 2008 and is currently a par-72 contest at a moderate length of 7,300 yards.

A golf course that is part of a vacation destination, you’ll find the Sand Hollow Resort in Utah’s southwest near the small city of St. George.

There is a slight difference between this course and the other ones that have featured in this list. The setting for the Championship Course is more of a desert setting than a mountainous and lush one with wide fairways and red-sand bunkers.

As a vacation destination, also expect water skiing, kayaking, hiking, and rock climbing in the area as well.
