Whitnell had never finished in the frame during his DP World Tour career, but came good at Ullna Golf & Country Club when recording a three-shot victory in Sweden.

The Englishman finished on 21-under par in the Scandinavian Mixed, three shots clear of Sean Crocker in the event co-sanctioned with the Ladies European Tour.

Whitnell’s only other victory on tour came on the Challenge Tour in 2019 when he won the KPMG Trophy.

Prior to turning professional, Whitnell featured in the Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team.

The win in Sweden saw Whitnell move up to 183rd in the Official World Golf Rankings from 308th.
