Jason Day has ended his long association with Nike Golf and signed as an ambassador with up-and-coming lifestyle brand Malbon Golf.
The major winner has been sponsored by Nike for the past 17 years, wearing clothing of the global brand for almost two decades on the course.
But the Australian has left Nike and joined Malbon Golf, revealing the news on his Instagram feed with a simple message: “It’s a new Day. Excited to join #teammalbon @malbongolf”.
Jason Day Joins Malbon
Day will join Jesper Parnevik and Charley Hull as ambassadors of the Malbon lifestyle brand and is set to sport some retro golf clothing from the promotional images shared.
In them, Day is seen wearing a loose fitting Malbon vest or sleeveless sweater as well as golf shoes with the old school fringe or panel.
“There have been times that I’d be standing on the first tee and look over to see another golfer in essentially the same outfit as me,” Day said about his new deal with Malbon.
“I’m excited to be able to go outside of the box and wear something that’s dramatically different than what everyone is used to seeing in golf today.
“Being an ambassador for Malbon means being able to wear stuff that I typically wouldn’t wear on the golf course a professional golfer, but it’s what I wear at home.
“Maybe this is another door opening where I can actually feel relaxed on the golf course like I do at home and really refine that look.”
