Mizuno ST Max 230 Woods Review (STRAIGHT, Predictable Fairways)

Mizuno ST Max 230 Woods Review

Mizuno ST Max 230 woods are new 2024 fairways with the forgiving new release offering a straight and predictable ball flight from tee to green.

Launched as a complete range of ST Max 230 driver, fairways and hybrids, Mizuno’s latest release is the most forgiving yet and compliments the ST-Z and ST-G range also new for 2024.

The Max has a larger footprint and is engineered for maximum stability and moment of inertia (MOI), delivering unparalleled straight-line performance from across the entire clubface.

How does the Max model rate compared to the performance of the ST-G woods and ST-Z fairways and what type of golfer do they suit? We found out.

Mizuno ST Max 230 Woods Specs & Features

The ST Max 230 fairway woods are designed with a wide profile and large footprint to inspire confidence and ensure maximum forgiveness is on offer.

Combined with the wrap-around toe composite, the larger clubhead of the fairways offer exceptional resistance to twisting on off-center strikes.

This design feature contributes to the club’s ability to produce a straight, predictable ball flight and help handicap golfers who are seeking to improve accuracy whether used from the fairway, tee or rough.

The addition of a dense stainless steel weight, integrated with elastomeric TPU, alleviates stress from the clubface while creating an additional energy source for increased ball speeds.

The weight has been positioned closer to the high energy MAS1C steel clubface and extends the high-performance zone across a larger area of the face thanks to an expanded CORTECH Chamber.

Mizuno also have made changes to the speed bevel on the leading edge to enhance turf interaction and help retain speed on direct turf strikes.

The new ST Max woods are available in 3-wood (15 degrees), 5-wood (18 degrees) and 7-wood (21 degrees) with four degrees of adjustability in each loft option.

Mizuno ST Max 230 Woods Review: Are they any good?

The first thing to note about the ST Max 230s is that they have an incredible ability to maintain high ball speeds across a vast portion of the clubface.

The improved CORTECH Chamber, change of weighting balance and the composite materials and wrap used – not to mention the enlarged clubhead – all contribute to the impressive forgiveness of this model.

It’s aimed at handicappers who struggle to get the most out of their long game and leak distance, and the ST Max does deliver on the promises of a straighter ball flight with a consistent ball flight and trajectory.

Whether from the tee or the turf, this club delivered impressive results when we tested it. All-in-all, you won’t be disappointed with Mizuno’s last offering.
