Ping G440 Woods (NEW 2025 Fairways Reviewed)

Ping G440 Woods Review

Ping G440 fairway woods are new for 2025 with the latest model replacing the G430 and new versions of the Max, LST and SFT launched.

The G440 fairways form part of an entire series along with new drivers, hybrids and irons with the same three models as the G430 fairways – the Max, LST and SFT.

Ping have made some notable alterations with a taller face, an optimized CG location for improve ball flight, distance and forgiveness and a new free hosel design.

The back weight profile has also been made slimmer to help in weight savings and help produce some of the fastest ball speeds yet.

Ping G440 Max Fairway Woods Specs & Design

The G440 Max is once again be the standard version with a combination of forgiveness, ease of launch and versatility making them suitable for a wide range of golfers.

One of the key changes made compared to the G430 version is the new 2025 model has a face that is 4% taller for more confidence at address – especially when hitting off the tee.

The maraging steel face wrap now extends into the crown and sole for increased face flexing for faster ball speeds and higher launch angles, while the heel and toe regions of the face deliver more consistent performance on off-center strikes.

Ping G440 Max Woods

The CarbonFly Wrap is also retained and contributes to overall weight savings along with the new free hosel technology, which saves 11.5 grams from the hosel, screw and heel section.

A more rounded sole now has a slimmer back-weight profile to save more weight and ensure a consistent face angle regardless of loft or lie settings.

Those savings are the reason Ping have managed to lower the center of gravity and add the taller face design into these fairways.

The G440 Max woods are available in 3-wood (15 degrees), new 4-wood (17 degrees), 5-wood (19 degrees), 7-wood (21 degrees) and 9-wood (24 degrees) lofts and have Trajectory Tuning 2.0 to create eight different hosel positions.

Ping G440 LST Woods Review

The LST model in the G440 woods range is the Low Spin Technology model and is a specialized design for better players and faster swingers seeking lower spin and a more penetrating ball flight.

The model has the smallest head among the three fairway woods and the profile helps build on the explosive balls speeds the G430 equivalent offered.

The LST version has a multi-material construction featuring a Ti-811 body, carbon crown and an 85-gram tungsten sole plate for optimized weight distribution and improved performance.

Ping G440 LST Woods

This model has a new HST 220 High Strength Titanium face that enhances ball speed and distance, along with a face profile that is 7% taller than its predecessor.

The face thickness has been fine-tuned in the heel and toe regions for more consistent performance and the taller overall look provides more confidence at address.

The club head is engineered for reduced drag and increased clubhead speed as well as a more penetrating trajectory with reduced spin.

The LST fairway woods is available in a 3-wood (15 degrees) and 5-wood (19 degrees) for the first time, with the Trajectory Tuning 2.0 offering eight different hosel positions.

Ping G430 SFT Woods Review

The Straight Flight Technology (SFT) model is also back in the new G440 fairway woods series as the option for golfers who struggle with slicing and fading the ball.

The SFT has a CG location engineered to promote a draw bias, helping to correct slice tendencies and add extra distance to your game from the tee.

In the 2025 version, the face is 3% taller than the G430 and offers a much more confidence-inspiring look at address, which suits golfers need the straight flight technology.

Ping G440 SFT Woods

The SFT has the same maraging steel face wrap that is in the Max version with the face extending into the crown and sole for increased flexing, faster ball speeds and higher launch angles.

The heel and toe regions the face have also been optimized in design for more consistent performance on off-center strikes.

The new free hosel technology has helped save 11.5 grams of weight and, along with the lighter Carbonfly wrap, significantly contributes to the lowest CG Ping have managed in a fairways set.

A rounded sole with a slimmer back-weight profile ensures consistent face angle regardless of loft or lie settings.

The SFT woods are available in 3-wood (16 degrees), 5-wood (19 degrees) and 7-wood (22 degrees) loft options with the Trajectory Tuning 2.0 providing eight hosel positions.

Ping G440 Woods Review: Are they any good?

The G440 fairways feature the same three models as the G430 with one major change expected to see the CarbonFly Wrap included in the LST for the first time.

The design and changes are all interesting, most notably the taller face for a more confidence-inspiring look at address.

With weight savings across the board, Ping have managed to make the G440s faster and more accurate than before without sacrificing any of the forgiveness that the G series has been renowned for.

Just like the new G440 drivers, there is a lot to like about these high-performing fairways.
