The second-generation PXG Secret Weapon Mini Driver has arrived for 2027 with improved ball speed, forgiveness and versatility compared to the original.
Building on the success of the original Secret Weapon Mini Driver, PXG have brought a thinner face, revised internal sole structure and updated weighting to the second generation model.
Rather than completely redesign, PXG have concentrated on improving face efficiency and redistributing weight to make the Mini Driver useable in a variety of on-course scenarios.
There is more ball speed across a larger hitting area and greater stability on mishits whether used from the tee, fairway or even rough.
Released in October 2026, the new 2027 Secret Weapon retains the original’s 300cc head and 13 degrees loft, but now comes with a shorter 43.25-inch standard shaft.
Pros & Cons
✅ Thinner titanium face is designed to flex more efficiently and preserve ball speed across a larger part of the hitting surface
✅ Shorter 43.25-inch standard length offers a more manageable build than a typical full-size driver and is half an inch shorter than the original Secret Weapon
✅ Four weight ports provide substantial scope to adjust shot shape, spin and swing weight
✅ Carbon-fibre crown and revised internal structure allow more mass to be redistributed for stability
✅ Available in both right and left-handed versions
❌ Only one loft – 13 degrees – although the adjustable hosel provides additional tuning
❌ A 300cc mini driver should not be assumed to offer the same forgiveness as a well-fitted 460cc driver
❌ Fairway use will depend on the golfer’s speed, strike and lie as the driver-like face and strong loft will not suit everyone from the turf
❌ At around $499, it is a specialist purchase that needs to fill a genuine distance or tee-shot role
PXG Secret Weapon Mini Driver Specs & Design
The second-generation Secret Weapon keeps the familiar 300cc footprint that places it between a conventional fairway wood and a full-size driver.
The biggest design change in the new second generation is a titanium face that is 4.4% thinner than the previous model.

The thinner construction of the face permits more deflection at impact, helping improve energy transfer and generate speed over a wider portion of the face – not just on perfectly centred strikes.
To support that thinner face, PXG have reworked the internal sole structure with the weight saved redistributed towards the perimeter to adjust the MOI and add forgiveness.
The lightweight carbon-fibre crown creates further freedom to position mass lower and deeper in the head, making a faster clubhead that remains stable when contact moves away from the centre.

Another change is the standard playing length with the new model measuring 43.25 inches, down from 43.75 inches on the original.
PXG’s Precision Weighting Technology remains with the new head featuring four sole ports positioned at the heel, toe, front and rear and supplied with two 7.5g weights and two 2.5g weights to alter setup.
More weight forward can lower launch and reduce spin, while additional toe weighting can encourage a fade tendency.

The adjustable hosel allows for 3 degrees of adjustment (1.5 up and 1.5 down) for an overall range of 11.5-14.5 degrees.
PXG Secret Weapon 2027 Review: Is It Any Good?
The second-generation Secret Weapon has been updated rather than relaunched and PXG have done very well in the subtle changes to improve performance across the board.
The thinner face, reinforced internal sole and revised weight distribution address speed and stability concerns, while the shorter standard shaft gives golfers a potentially more manageable build.
The strongest feature remains adjustability with four weight locations and an adjustable hosel providing enough options to find the perfect setup.
The question is whether it earns a distinct place in your bag. Compare it with both your driver and 3-wood, looking at average carry, dispersion and performance from the turf before purchasing.
