Shane Lowry claimed a stunning 11 shot victory in his home event in the Amgen Irish Open in September 2026. A look at Shane Lowry: What’s In The Bag.
It was four years since his last solo victory and two-and-a-half years since his previous win in a pairs event, but Lowry returned to winning ways in style.
The Irishman was winning the Irish Open for the second time – the first as an amateur in 2009. This time, he picked up a deserved payday after finishing a record 11 shots clear of the field.
It was the eighth win of Lowry’s career, which started when winning the 2009 Irish Open as an amateur to underline his potential.
Lowry won for the first time as a professional came at the 2012 Portugal Masters before he landed a first PGA Tour success in the 2015 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
It was a four year wait for his next win in the 2019 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship before the biggest of his career in the 2019 The Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
Another barren run came to an end more than three years later in the 2022 BMW PGA Championship before another PGA Tour win in 2024 when teaming up with Rory McIlroy in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
