Shane Lowry: What’s In The Bag

Shane Lowry Bag

Shane Lowry claimed one of his biggest victories when winning the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in September 2022. A look at Shane Lowry: What’s In The Bag.

Irishman Lowry ended more than three years without a win since landing The 2019 Open Championship as he won one of the most prestigious prizes of the DP World Tour season.

A seven-under par final round at Wentworth saw Lowry win the BMW PGA Championship, which was shortened to 54 holes due to the death of Her Majesty The Queen, by a shot from Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.

It was the sixth win of Lowry’s career, which started when winning the 2009 Irish Open as an amateur to underline his potential.

Lowry won for the first time as a professional came at the 2012 Portugal Masters before he landed a first PGA Tour success in the 2015 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.

It was a four year wait for his next win in the 2019 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship before the biggest of his career in the 2019 The Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

Another barren run came to an end more than three years later in the 2022 BMW PGA Championship.

The win in the BMW PGA Championship moved Lowry up from 23rd to 19th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
