TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 wedges are the third generation of the hugely popular MG wedges. GolfReviewsGuide.com takes a look at the 2021 release.
MG wedges are the preferred choice of the likes of Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods, and the biggest names will now have an improved Milled Grind 3 option to add to the bag.
TaylorMade have tweaked, rather than revolutionised the Milled Grind 2 wedges, with new RAW Face Micro-Ribs one of the key components to produce more spin and control than in previous models.
What TaylorMade say about the Milled Grind 3 wedges:
“Wedge technology has evolved. The new Milled Grind 3 features RAW Face Micro-Ribs, engineered for added face texture to deliver spin around the greens and added precision on partial shots.
“There’s a reason RAW wedges are preferred by the game’s best players. The unplated material will rust over time to preserve consistent spin while also delivering better performance in wet conditions.
“With RAW Face Technology, only the face will rust while the rest of the head maintains a premium finish.
“RAW Face Technology designed for increased spin and feel with sharper, narrower and deeper grooves in the face, as well as laser etched precision.
“The face rusts over time, preserving spin properties and providing the time-honored look preferred by many Tour professionals.”
TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 Wedges Design & Features
TaylorMade haven’t ripped up the older models, but simply enhanced them in the third generation release of the Milled Grind wedges.
The big component in the MG3 wedges in Raw Face Technology with TaylorMade opting for the face to rust over time to continue producing spin throughout the life of each wedge.
Significantly, the technology means only the face rusts and not the rest of the club head.
The face features RAW Face Micro-Ribs, which help produce the kind of controlled spin levels that golfers crave from approach shots and from around the green.
TaylorMade have also made the grooves on the face on the new model narrower and deeper to help achieve the spin.
Verdict: How good are the Milled Grind 3 wedges?
Let’s be honest, there was little not to like about the Milled Grind 2 wedges, but with every successful golf club evolution is possible.

It is the RAW design of the clubhead that will really please, not only aesthetically either. The MG3 is a wedge that will rust over time, but maintain the performance levels and golfers are going to love that.
