Miura IC-602 Irons Review (NEW 2024 Release)

Miura IC-602 Irons Review

Miura IC-602 irons are newly launched for 2024 and have been designed to take distance and forgiveness to the next level.

A hollow body option for mid-handicap and low-handicap golfers, Miura have made some notable tweaks to the latest iteration of Shinei Miura’s model to improve ball compression through impact.

The IC-602 irons stand out with their traditional look, while improved feel and sound are joined by more forgiveness and importantly increased distance from the 2024 release.

We tested them and found gains in distance throughout the set but was it just down to the slightly strong lofts? Not just that, because the feel off the face contributed to a much crisper ball strike too in this model.

Miura IC-602 Irons Specs & Design

It’s perhaps not unsurprising that the new Miura IC-602 irons are the result of a sophisticated blend of engineering and materials. After all, that’s the Miura way.

Miura have enhanced the hollow body construction in this latest model to offering a more solid feel and consistent distance control without sacrificing the signature Miura sound.

Miura IC-602 Irons

The irons are crafted from a body of 8620 soft carbon steel and integrates a tungsten insert and injected polymer to achieve a perfect balance of feel and performance.

The strategic placement of a tungsten weight within the hollow body has helped lower the center of gravity and enhance launch conditions.

The faces of the irons are made from Chrome Molybdenum for the 3 iron to 9-iron and Premium S35C Carbon Steel for the pitching wedge and gap wedge with this setup a new move by Miura.

Miura IC-602 Irons

The incorporation of the optimized Miura Versatile Sole (MVS) means the IC-602 irons produce better turf interaction and launch angle and ensure a more efficient power transfer through impact.

The intricate sole design, which is derived from over five decades of design experience in the Miura team, is key to extracting the added distance the IC-602s promise.

The lofts on the IC-602 model have been strengthen compared to previous versions with these irons one degree more upright through each of the lofts in order to help improve the ball compression.

Miura IC-602 Irons

The IC-602 irons are sold in 3-iron (20 degrees), 4-iron (22 degrees), 5-iron (25 degrees), 6-iron (28 degrees), 7-iron (31 degrees), 8-iron (35 degrees), 9-iron (40 degrees), Pitching Wedge (45 degrees) and Gap Wedge (50 degrees).

Miura IC-602 Irons Review: Are they any good?

The IC-602 irons are engineered to maximize ball compression and in testing we found that delivers impressive ball speeds, an ideal launch angle and added distance from the fairways.

Long irons provide higher trajectories than other Miura models and additional carry through the air and overall distance and further shots, while the mid and short irons generated a lower ball flight, good spin levels and distance control.

The distance gains were particularly impressive and the new design really does help compress the ball and get the most out of every iron in the bag.

Miura irons always ooze quality and these are no different. They promise forgiveness and distance and we really can’t grumble with that assessment as that is exactly what we got from them.

FAQs

What is the release date for the Miura IC-602 irons?

The irons were launched in March 2024 and are on sale from April 2024.

How much do Miura IC-602 irons cost?

The Miura IC-602s currently retail at $355 per iron.

What are the Miura IC-602 irons specs?

The IC-602 irons are sold in 3-iron (20 degrees), 4-iron (22 degrees), 5-iron (25 degrees), 6-iron (28 degrees), 7-iron (31 degrees), 8-iron (35 degrees), 9-iron (40 degrees), Pitching Wedge (45 degrees) and Gap Wedge (50 degrees).

What materials are Miura irons made of?

The irons are forged with premium soft carbon steel via a unique manufacturing process that was developed over 50 years ago.

Are Miura irons mass produced?

Miura irons are not mass produced and in fact, most of the manufacturing process is done by hand. Miura-san still occupies the number one chair on the grinding line and watching him work is like watching an artist work.

What Miura says about the IC-602 Irons:

“When designing the IC-602, Shinei Miura sought to create an iron that could deliver both distance and forgiveness but also a look, feel, and sound worthy of the Miura name.

“The IC-602 has seamlessly blended these characteristics with a traditional look, which gives intermediate and advanced players the confidence to shape their shots with precision.

“The solid feel and sound of the IC-602 sets itself apart from many conventional hollow bodied irons by marrying the solid Miura feel with ultra-reliable distance control. The compact head design delivers distance without compromising the precision expected from a Miura iron.

Miura IC-602 Irons

The Miura craftsman, when designing the sole, decided to draw on over 50 years of experience with wedge design in an effort to deliver efficient turf interaction and optimized launch for this iron.

“The IC-602 design helps to deliver maximum compression to the ball, regardless of swing path or attack angle. Perfectly positioned center of gravity means maximum ball speed and ideal launch angles throughout the bag.

“This means that long irons fly higher and further while mid and short irons deliver the ideal ball flight, spin, and predictable distance control you need to score.

“The Miura Versatile Sole (MVS) performs regardless of a golfer’s attack angle. The sole shape delivers solid contact with unparalleled turf interaction.

“The unique step on the trailing edge of the sole serves to minimize the turf contact after impact allowing golfers to feel the club head release resulting in the ability to deliver maximum compression to the ball, regardless of swing path or attack angle.”
