Previously known as the Sentry Tournament of Champions, The Sentry is the first event of the year and 2024 PGA Tour season.

The first tournament of the year dates back to 1958 when launched as the season opener.

It takes place at the Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort in Maui, Hawaii, and features a select field of winners from the 2023 PGA Tour season and Tour Championship qualifiers from the previous FedEx Cup Playoffs.

The tournament of champions moved to Maui in 1999 and was previously staged at Desert Inn Country Club in Las Vegas, Stardust Country Club in Las Vegas and La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California.

Jon Rahm is the reigning champion having won the title in 2023, although he won’t be back to defend his crown.

Tournament of Champions Golf Format & Schedule

The Sentry will be played over four rounds / 72 holes at the par-73 Plantation Course at Kapalua Resort. There is no weekend cut owing to the small field taking part.

• Day 1 – Thursday, January 4
• Day 2 – Friday, January 5
• Day 3 – Saturday, January 6
• Day 4 – Sunday, January 7

The tournament carries a prize fund of $20,000,000 USD.
