The China Open dates back to 1995 when an Asian Tour event before being co-sanctioned with the European Tour from 2004.
The tournament dropped off the DP World Tour schedule – although did take place as a domestic event – during the Covid pandemic before returning at Hidden Grace Golf Club in 2024.
It moved to Enhance Anting Golf Club in Shanghai for the first time in 2025 and remains this year as the course establishes itself as one of the leading golf venue in China.
The tournament has also been staged at Beijing International, Shanghai Sun Island International, Shanghai Silport, Shenzhen, Beijing Honghua International, Suzhou Jinji Lake, Luxehills International, Binhai Lake, Genzon, Tomson Shanghai Pudong and Topwin.
Ashun Wu is the reigning champion after victory in the China Open in 2025 on home soil and he is among the contenders for the 2026 event.
Other previous winners include Simon Dyson, Paul Casey, Jeev Milkha Singh, Damien McGrane, Scott Strange, Nicolas Colsaerts, Branden Grace, Brett Rumford, Alexander Levy, Haotong Li, Alexander Bjork and Adrian Otaegui.
