The Spaniard swapped the DP World Tour for three LIV Golf events earlier in 2022, but fought his case to be permitted to play on the European Tour.
He claimed his first win since doing so with Otaegui winning his homeland with a dominant six-shot victory in the Andalucia Masters at Valderrama in 2022.
And Otaegui added the Volvo China Open title to his CV when recording one shot victory over Guido Migliozzi in May 2024.
It was a fifth DP World Tour win for Otaegui following previous successes in the 2017 Saltire Energy Paul Lawrie Match Play, 2018 Belgian Knockout and 2020 Scottish Championship.
The win in the Volvo China Open moved Otaegui up from 143rd to 110th in the Official World Golf Rankings.
