The South Course is a private course while the North Course is a lot more friendly for tourists as it is a public venue.

Having opened in 2005 with the design work of Ree Jones and Bryce Swanson, the course is a par-72 affair at 7,279 yards.

The North Course has received loads of accolades over the years and golfers can expect a lot of elevation changes while playing this course and a fair amount of pressure-filled shots involving forced carries.

2. Connecticut National Golf Club

The Connecticut National Golf Club opened in 1994. The club has a par-71 course at a pretty short length of just 6,169 yards.

This is a semi-private golfing facility, meaning there is some public access available.

Originally named the Putnam Country Club, Mark Mungen performed a redesign earlier this century.

When playing this course, golfers should expect undulating greens, frequent changes in elevation, and possible wildlife sightings. The facilities include two practice greens, a driving range, and a restaurant and bar.

3. The Stanwich Club

Located in the Greenwich, Connecticut area, the Stanwich Club‘s golf course opened in 1964.

It was designed by William and David Gordon, a father-and-son team and today it plays as a first-class par-72 course at a decent length of 7,445 yards.

This private course, which is set amidst colorful deciduous foliage, has some fast-putting greens.

Expect, a difficult course, one where you might want to rely on a caddy’s advice as you negotiate your way through lengthy tree-lined fairways.

4. Round Hill Club

The Round Hill Club‘s golf course is a historic course in Connecticut. It opened in 1924, it is a par-71 at a length of 6,740 yards.

A private course, it was originally designed by Walter Travis. Robert Trent Jones Sr., a famous golf course architect from the last century, performed a couple of updates in the 1950s and 1960s.

5. Guilford Lakes Golf Club

The Guilford Lakes Golf Club‘s course is a good pick if you want to try a user-approved course in the state of Connecticut.

Located near Guilford, this course opened in 1999 following the design of Al Zikorus.

It is stated as a public/municipal course and it was noted in Golf Digest’s for “Nine-hole-friendly golf courses.”

Expect an impeccably maintained short course that is par-3 for each of nine holes. You won’t be putting the driver to the test at this course as it is just 1,319 yards in length.
