Cobra King & King X Wedges 2025 (NEW Generation Reviewed)

Cobra King & King X Wedges Review

A new 2025 edition of the Cobra King and King X wedges have been launched with an upgraded – and improved – design in the latest release.

The King series has long been Cobra’s premium wedge line and tweaks have been made to improve the performance of both models.

The Metal Injection Molding (MIM) technology has been optimized in the 2025 launch for a softer feel and a new groove pattern has enhanced control and spin in the new models.

The King and King X also feature a redesigned Cobra Speed Notch, which is 67% larger than in previous models and delivers much improved turf interaction.

Cobra King Wedges Design & Specs

The King wedges are Cobra’s premium model and have been tweaked rather than given a complete makeover in the 2025 edition.

The Cobra King wedges are crafted from 8620 steel and are manufactured using Metal Injection Molding (MIM), with the improved production allowing for tighter tolerances and a softer feel from the new wedges.

During the MIM process, each wedge is heat-treated to nearly 1400°C (2500°F) to create a tighter grain structure – and the result is a softer feel and enhanced precision.

The 2025 model also features new Flight Window Technology (F.W.T.), which optimizes the center of gravity for each loft and improves trajectory control and spin.

Cobra have updated the Progressive Spin Technology and added different groove designs across lofts to maximize spin and control through the bag.

An Enlarged Speed Notch is another key new design feature with the redesigned sole notch 67% larger and promoting better turf interaction and cleaner contact.

The enlarging of the notch, which has been part of the Cobra design since 1997, freed up mass that Cobra have repositioned higher in the clubhead to optimize center of gravity placement for each loft as a result.

Lofts of 48 degrees, 50 degrees, 52 degrees, 54 degrees, 56 degrees, 58 degrees and 60 degrees are available.

The Kings are sold in three options of Satin Chrome, Black QPQ and RAW finishes and have four new grinds – Drop (D), Widelow (W), Versatile (V) and Tour (T).

Cobra King X Wedges Specs & Design

The King X differs from the King model due to have a larger, more forgiving shape that is best suited to higher handicap golfers.

The slightly larger profile with a thicker topline is designed to inspire confidence at address for golfers who struggle with short game consistency.

The King X wedges have a hollow cavity-back construction, which has allowed Cobra’s designers to redistribute 20g of mass to the perimeter for higher forgiveness and more stable ball flights.

A TPU insert is also incorporated to help dampen vibration for a softer feel off the clubface despite the game-improvement focus of the King X.

Like the King, the key design feature is the Metal Injection Molding (MIM), which has extremely precise manufacturing that is about 50% tighter tolerances than traditional casting methods.

This model also features a new Progressive Teardrop Grind with a simplified sole design that can provide the goods from a range of lies and ground conditions without needing multiple grind options.

The King X is only available in a Satin Chrome finish and is sold in lofts of 48 degrees, 50 degrees, 52 degrees, 54 degrees, 56 degrees, 58 degrees and 60 degrees.

2025 Cobra King Wedges & King X Wedges Review: Are they any good?
