LIV Golf 2023 Schedule & Format

LIV Golf Flag

The LIV Golf 2023 schedule and format has been revealed with an expansion to 14 events and a rename on the course.

The LIV Golf Invitational tournaments that have debuted in 2022, with eight event being staged, will be replaced by a new LIV Golf League name and setup.

The series grows to 14 tournaments across 2023 with prize money of $405 million up for grabs.

That is an increase of $150 million on the current fund and equates to $25 million for each of the six additional tournaments in 2023.

The series expands into North and Latin Americas and Australia in 2023, but a conflict with golf’s four majors – the Masters, USPGA Championship, US Open and Open Championship – is avoided once again.

LIV Golf 2023 Format

Another change will see 48 players drafted into 12 teams of four for the duration of the season, rather than the previous format of a draft for each event in 2022.

“LIV Golf’s expanding global platform will add a new dimension to the golf ecosystem as we know it, one that provides an opportunity for players and fans around the world to help maximize our beloved sport’s true potential,” LIV Golf CEO and commissioner Greg Norman said in a statement.

“Our franchise model will bring new energy and excitement to fans from all corners of the world, establishing a league of teams to connect and grow with.”

LIV Golf is also launching an International Series as part of the LIV Golf 2023 schedule. It will feature events in Thailand, England, Korea, Vietnam, the Middle East, Indonesia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, the Americas and Europe.

LIV Golf players will be expected to play in the International Series events, which are also being used as a pathway for talented golfers to earn a place in the LIV Golf League. Those players will get the chance of promotion into the main events.

“The International Series will attract new talent and offer unprecedented pathways that develop the next generation of stars,” Norman said.

“LIV Golf is committed to making sustainable investments that grow the game now and for the future, and we are proud to turn these dreams into a reality.”

In total, LIV Golf will stage 21 tournaments between the LIV Golf League and the International Series.
