The 2025 LIV Golf season concluded with a dramatic relegation battle at the LIV Golf Indianapolis resulted in six players dropping out of the league for 2026.
Players finishing 49th or lower in the individual season-long standings are automatically relegated and must earn their way back through the International Series on the Asian Tour or via LIV Golf’s Promotions Event.
Who were the six players to occupy the dreaded “Drop Zone” positions and suffer relegation from LIV Golf after the 2025 regular season?
LIV Golf 2025 Relegated Players
Henrik Stenson (Majesticks GC)
The 2016 Open Champion and co-captain of Majesticks GC narrowly missed safety by the slimmest margin, finishing 49th. Despite efforts, he fell into the Drop Zone after finishing tied for 22nd at the final event.
Notably, the Majesticks GC team’s internal struggle was dramatic with fellow co-captain Ian Poulter rescuing himself from relegation by a strong finish at Indianapolis and indirectly causing Stenson’s demotion.
Andy Ogletree (HyFlyers GC)
Ogletree battled a persistent wrist injury throughout the season. His best finish was a tie for 18th at LIV Golf United Kingdom, but he ended up 50th overall.
Mito Pereira (Torque GC)
Pereira had a bittersweet finish. Although his team won at LIV Golf Indianapolis, his individual tie for 36th was not enough to avoid relegation, placing him 51st.
Yubin Jang (Iron Heads GC)
The rookie struggled for consistency with only one top-25 finish all season. He ended up 53rd, well within the Drop Zone.
Anthony Kim (Wildcard)
The much-anticipated return of Kim to professional golf did not yield enough points, finishing with zero and ranking 53rd or below, leading to his relegation.
Frederik Kjettrup (Cleeks GC)
Kjettrup was another newcomer unable to secure the points needed to remain, ending the season with no points and finishing last among full-time players.
LIV Golf Standings & Relegation System Format
The league’s relegation system categorizes players as follows:
Lock Zone – the top 24 in points are in the “Lock Zone” and guaranteed their places for the next season.
Open Zone – players ranked 25-48 are in the “Open Zone” and stay in the league, although they are vulnerable to trades or releases.
Drop Zone – players ranked 49 and lower are in the “Drop Zone” leading to automatic relegation. Players facing relegation still have potential pathways back through qualifying events but will need to perform strongly to regain their LIV Golf status.
