MacDonald Portal Golf Course Features & Layout

MacDonald Portal Golf & Country Club’s Championship course is highly rated, despite offering a serious test in terms of length and undulating terrain.

It was first opened in 1990 when designed by Donald Steel and features a host of large water hazards, a beautiful waterfall and the signature 607-yard par-5 third home early in the round with a green surrounded by a lake.

The Premier Course is the second of the 18-hole option and is also a good test of skill across more of the resort’s hilly terrain.

Also opened in 1990, the Premier Course was designed by Andrew Murray and is a testing 18-hole parkland style venue with plenty of surprises at every turn.

MacDonald Portal is also home to a nine-hole Arderne Course which is better suited to beginners and higher-handicap golfers.

The Arderne has water features but is much easier test with no hole longer than 310 yards.
