Mizuno ST-Z 230 Hybrids Review (LOW Spinning, HIGH Launching)

Mizuno ST-Z 230 Hybrids Review

Mizuno ST-Z 230 hybrids are a new 2024 as the successors to the CLK model. Have Mizuno unleashed more power and forgiveness?

Launched as a complete range of ST-Z 230 driver and fairways, the hybrids improve on the performance of the previous model as it replaces the CLK rescues. They are also joined by the forgiving ST Max 230 design.

Developed in collaboration with Mizuno’s tour advisors, the hybrids are designed to cater for players across all skill levels with a low spinning and high launching profile that’s suits various golfers.

We tested them out and found the combination of a high energy MAS1C steel face and enhanced CORTECH Chamber delivers exceptional ball speeds for maximum distance.

Mizuno ST-Z 230 Hybrids Specs & Features

Mizuno have taken the CLK hybrid design and enhanced it significantly in the new 2024 release the ST-Z 230s.

Key to the design are both the high energy MAS1C steel face and the latest version of Mizuno’s CORTECH Chamber, which combined to produce high-launch, low-spin and impressive ball speeds.

This CORTECH Chamber encloses a dense stainless steel weight surrounded by elastomeric TPU, and it effectively takes stress off the clubface while creating an additional energy source.

The result is a reduction in spin rates and a shift in weight closer to the clubface, which are crucial to producing the low spin levels and a straighter ball flight.

The MAS1C steel face technology has been optimized in this model to produce a powerful ball strike, maximum energy transfer through impact and high ball speeds.

The clubhead have a larger, more confidence-inspiring profile, and features a waffle crown and thick sole weight which helps lower the sweet spot and deepen the center of gravity to produce a high and stable launch.

The new ST-Z 230 rescues are available in 2-hybrid (16 degrees), 3-hybrid (19 degrees), 4-hybrid (22 degrees) and 5-hybrid (25 degrees) with four degrees of adjustability in each loft option.

Mizuno ST-Z 230 Hybrids Review: Are they any good?

The ST-Z is a impressive new addition for 2024 and is a much more consistent performer than the CLK model that came before it.

We found the ball flight to be much more stable and straighter in the new 230 rescues with the low spin levels helping generate a few extra yards.

The balls speeds were also better than previous versions and they were very forgiving from across the face, particularly when struck out of the heel or toe.

One of the best things about the ST-Z 230 is that the range features a 2-hybrid, which not many manufacturers opt for. It provides a great alternative to a low-lofted fairway wood.
