Scotty Cameron Xperimental Squareback 2 & Fastback 2 Putters (Limited Edition Models Reviewed)

Scotty Cameron Xperimental Limited Putters Review

New Scotty Cameron Studio Xperimental Limited putters have been launched with versions of the Squareback 2 and Fastback 2 models.

Scotty Cameron’s Studio Xperimental Limited range brings tour prototypes to the general sale markets and the Squareback 2 and Fastback 2 joins the GOLO 6.2 putter previously released.

The latest limited release features the compact mallets the Squareback 2 and Fastback 2, which are part of the Scotty Cameron Super Select series in their normal retail look.

The Xperimental version of the two putters feature a Steel Gray PVD finish for style and durability and a black nickel-plated Studio Carbon Steel (SCS) chain-link face insert that optimizes touch and roll.

They also have a custom-engineered graphite shaft designed for increased stability, precise feedback and slightly counterbalanced weighting for a smoother stroke.

Pros & Cons

✅ Premium Steel Gray PVD finish is glare-resistant and durable.
✅ Advanced chain-link Studio Carbon Steel face insert creates a soft, responsive feel with immediate roll
✅ Parallel sight lines and cherry red translucent dots boost confidence for short and mid-range putts
✅ Custom graphite shaft and counterbalanced weighting offer extra stability and refined feel through the stroke
❌ Slightly heavier and counterbalanced, which will be a change for those moving from standard-length putters or lighter heads
❌ Strong arc required in stroke due to the plumber’s neck; not ideal for straight-back, straight-through putters
❌ Price point is high as a limited edition release

Scotty Cameron Xperimental Squareback 2 Putter Review & Specs

The Squareback 2 is a compact mallet shape favored by tour players and is launched in the limited edition Xperimental version.

The putter has a Steel Gray PVD finish and black SCS chain-link face insert for a stunning look in the short-term release version of the popular model.

The Squareback 2 design is a multi-material construction of stainless steel and aluminum sole and has an I-beam plumbing neck that encourages a toe hang setup and ideal for arcing putting strokes.

The plumber’s neck also promotes a blade-like swing with the stability of a mallet and makes it an ideal model for golfers seeking feedback and control as well as forgiveness on the greens.

Scotty Cameron’s Squareback 2 limited edition putter also features a custom graphite shaft which helps with counter balanced weighting for a solid and crisp feel at impact for the slightly heavier head.

Parallel sight lines and red translucent dots help with alignment and setup confidence, particularly over short and mid-range putts.

Scotty Cameron Xperimental Fastback 2 Putter Review & Specs

The Fastback 2 is the version of the model to feature a plumber’s neck hosel with this set up previously only seen in prototypes.

As a result, the Xperimental version has a tour-preferred neck design favoured by professionals and has a notable toe hang for arc-style putters.

Like the Squareback 2, it features a Steel Gray PVD finish, black Studio Carbon Steel chain-link face insert and a multi-material construction of stainless steel body and aluminum sole.

The Xperimental putter also has a custom graphite shaft that leads to precise and counterbalanced weighting for feel, stability and roll on putts.

The Fastback 2’s refined profile and plumbing neck configuration are built for those who love a compact mallet, while the parallel sight lines help with alignment on putting greens.

Scotty Cameron Xperimental Limited Edition Putters Review: Are they any good?

Scotty Cameron have come up with two more Xperimental Limited putters that deliver the goods – not only for the sleek Steel Gray PVD finish but for the performance too.

The Squareback 2 offers a stable mid-mallet design that is ideal for golfers with an arcing stroke who want blade-like feedback combined with mallet stability.

The Fastback 2 has a newly introduced plumber’s neck hosel for the first time and for that reason it is also suited for arc-style strokes and something we’ve not had before.

Both deliver a stable stroke feel with the counterbalanced setup giving consistency and stability through the stroke, reducing unwanted hand or wrist movement.
