TaylorMade RORS Proto Irons Specs & Design

The RORS Proto irons were originally developed exclusively for Rory McIlroy’s bag when he joined Team TaylorMade in 2017.

Since then, they have been his trusted irons across every major tournament. PGA Tour event, DP World Tour tournament and Ryder Cup.

Each set released to the public mirrors McIlroy’s specs, celebrating his monumental achievement as only the sixth player in history to complete the career Grand Slam.

The limited-edition design features ‘FORGED’ machined into the hosel and four colored dots below the signature script, symbolizing each of McIlroy’s major victories.

TaylorMade RORS Proto Irons

Built on the foundation of TaylorMade’s P730 irons, the RORS Proto irons include subtle yet critical modifications tailored to McIlroy’s preferences.

The 7-iron and 8-iron feature a noticeably thinner top line for a cleaner visual at address – something McIlroy specifically requested.

Additionally, the clubs incorporate the same groove pattern as the P7TW irons, enhancing spin control – particularly from the rough – to match the shot-making demands of elite play.
