TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus Woods Review (50g Sliding Weight for THREE Setups)

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus Woods

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus woods are part of the new 2023 series and feature a 50g sliding weight in the latest model for three different setups. How do they differ vs Stealth 2 fairways?

Just like the Stealth 2 drivers, the Stealth 2 fairway woods feature two models and the Plus is the most adaptable of the two compared to the Stealth 2.

The Plus has a 50g sliding weight that allows for three different setups with the option to place it forward, centred or back for different ball flights and trajectories.

We take a look at the benefits of the Stealth 2 Plus against the standard model and whether it can help make a difference to your game.

What TaylorMade says about the Stealth 2 Plus Fairway Woods:

“With a massive 50g sliding weight that creates three fairway woods in one, the all-new Stealth 2 Plus Fairway is like a cheat code. Letting you control launch, spin and distance with a few twists of the wrench.

“A combination of the 50g sliding weight and the 2 degree loft sleeve delivers a wide range of flight and performance characteristics.

“Shift the weight back for higher launch and stability; leave the weight centered for versatile performance; or shift the weight forward for a low-spin ball flight with maximum distance.

“Inverted Cone Technology has given golfers speed and performance for years. In 2023, engineers tweaked the recipe to make it even more potent.

“The advanced face design is thinnest at true center and around the edges, with a thicker mantle surrounding center face. It is made to maximize speed across the face and enhance durability.

“A technical blend of lightweight titanium, carbon and steel optimizes weight distribution in the 170cc head. The advanced construction allows for the breakthrough sliding weight track design, bringing unmatched adjustability to a compact fairway.”

TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus Fairway Woods Specs & Design

The Stealth 2 Plus is an alternative option to the Stealth 2, and the key difference is the 50g sliding weight on the sole of this fairway.

The sliding weight can be adjusted to create three different fairway woods in one, allowing for personalized performance and a variety of ball flights and trajectories.

The weight can be positioned in the back position for a higher launch and more forgiveness, in the centered you get a natural set up and with the weight in the forward position you will get a piercing low ball flight with maximum distance.

Unlike the face of the drivers, once again the Stealth 2 fairways have a titanium construction rather than carbonwood.

It features Inverted Cone Technology as the key design element for the thinnest face yet and a thicker mantle surrounding the sweet spot to ensure the woods deliver maximum ball speeds.

TaylorMade’s now standard Thru-Slot Speed Pocket is also part of the new Stealth 2 Plus, providing additional forgiveness and distance on strikes on the lower half of the face.

The clubhead crown itself, which is a compact 170cc shape, is crafted from carbon to help keep weight down and keep the CG low.

The Stealth 2 Plus is only available in lofts of 3-wood (15 degrees) and 5-wood (18 degrees). The adjustable hosel allows for four degrees of loft changes (2 degrees up and down).

Verdict: Are the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Fairway Woods any good?

The Stealth 2 Plus woods are a great addition, offering maximum flexibility and catering for golfers of all abilities looking to play around with setup from round to round.

The sliding weight is what offers that flexibility, allowing for launch angle and trajectory to be change and provide options to suit course and conditions. No wonder TaylorMade call it cheat code.

The lack of options in terms of lofts – only three wood and five wood – may put off some, but the adjustability of this model from the hosel and sliding weight make it a game changer.
