Thomas Pieters claimed his sixth European Tour / DP World Tour victory as he won the 2022 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. A look at Thomas Pieters: What’s In The Bag.
Pieters could only post a final round of level par at Yas Links on Sunday, but it was enough to end the week on 10-under par and claim a one-shot victory over Rafael Cabrera Bello in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.
On a day of tough conditions in the United Arab Emirates, Belgium’s Pieters did enough to hold off the chasing pack and win the first event of the newly rebranded 2022 DP World Tour.
It was Pieters’ first Rolex Series victory over his career.
It was the biggest win of Pieters’ career and his second in three months having won the 2021 Portugal Masters in November last year.
Pieters’ others wins came in the D+D Real Czech Masters in 2015 and 2019, the 2015 KLM Open and the 2016 Made in Denmark.
The victory moved Pieters back into the Top 50 in the world in 31st place in the Official World Golf Rankings from 69th.
