Tiger Woods Suffers Crushing Defeat On TGL Debut

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods made his highly anticipated debut in the TGL (Tomorrow’s Golf League) on Tuesday, January 15, but it didn’t go as planned for the golf legend.

Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club team suffered a crushing 12-1 defeat against Los Angeles Golf Club at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

In what was the second match following The Bay Golf Club recording a 9-2 victory over the New York Golf Club on the opening night of TGL, co-founder Woods failed to get the dream start.

Woods entered the arena to the iconic “Eye of the Tiger” song, setting an electric atmosphere among the approximately 1,500 spectators.

The 15-time major champion was all smiles throughout the event, emphasizing that the primary goal of TGL is to “showcase golf and grow the game”, but he was unable to produce the goods for his team.

Jupiter Links quickly fell behind 5-0 after just four holes and the team’s lone point came at the sixth hole with Woods, Max Homa, Kevin Kisner and Tom Kim underwhelming.

From there Los Angeles Golf Club dominated, leading 8-1 after the opening nine-hole session of alternate shot play before sealing a dominant victory.

LA Golf were without Tommy Fleetwood, who will be playing in the Dubai Desert Classic, but his three team-mates did the business with Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala and Justin Rose all starring.

Woods, who set up TGL with Rory McIlroy, said: “It is a reality now,” following his team’s first matchup.
