The tournament is played Rinkven International Golf Club in Antwerp, Belgium, with the venue staging a traditional 72-hole strokeplay event.

The Soudal Open was held on six previous occasions, the first three in 1998-2000 when known as the Belgacom Open and won by Lee Westwood twice and Robert Karlsson.

It was axed before returning in 2018 and 2019 as the Belgian Knockout competition. Adrian Otaegui and Guido Migliozzi won prior to the event being dropped once again.

In 2022, it returned to the DP World Tour as the Soudal Open and was won by Sam Horsfield.
