The Australian PGA Championship is the first event of the new 2025/26 DP World Tour season and is staged at Royal Queensland Golf Club in Brisbane, Australia, for the fifth year running.
The prestigious tournament dates back to 1929 as a match play event and remained that way through to 1964, after which it has been played as a strokeplay competition.
It was part of the ANZ and One Asia Tours from 2009 and 2014 and was elevated to European Tour status in 2015. It was previously held in January but moved to November in 2022 in a calendar rejig.
Elvis Smylie is the reigning champion after winning the last edition in 2024 and he is among the 2025 leading betting odds contenders.
Other former winners include Kel Nagle, Bill Dunk, Peter Thomson, Hale Irwin, Sam Torrance, Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman, Wayne Grady, Peter Senior, Ian Baker-Finch, Robert Allenby, Geoff Ogilvy, Adam Scott, Harold Varner III, Jediah Morgan, Cameron Smith and Min Woo Lee.
