The prestigious Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship is set to return to Dubai in 2025 with Emirates Golf Club’s renowned Majlis Course selected as the host venue.
The 16th edition of the tournament will take place from October 23-26, 2025, marking the second time the championship will be held in the Middle East.
The announcement was made jointly by the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), the Masters Tournament and The R&A as the organisers of the event.
The elite amateur golf event brings together top male players from the 43 APGC-affiliated organizations across the Asia-Pacific region.
The champion of the 2025 tournament will receive coveted invitations to compete in the 2026 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club and gain exemption into The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale.
Runners-up in the 2025 Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship have the opportunity to participate in Final Qualifying for The Open.
Taimur Hassan Amin, Chairman of the APGC, said: “We have a proud tradition of hosting the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship at world-class venues and are continuing that with the hosting of the 2025 edition at Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis Course.
“Dubai and the United Arab Emirates have a rich history of golf in the region, including the 2021 Asia-Pacific Amateur won by Keita Nakajima, and we are thrilled to watch some of the best players in the world return next year.”
General Abdullah Al Hashmi, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation, added: “Bringing the collection of talent from across the Asia-Pacific region to Emirates Golf Club in 2025 will be an honor.
“We have seen first hand the growth of golf and a number of prestigious tournaments in the United Arab Emirates over the years and we are excited for the 2025 Asia-Pacific Amateur to continue that legacy.”
Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship
The Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship has a history of launching successful professional careers, with past competitors including Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama and The Open winner Cameron Smith.
Alumni of the championship have collectively won 27 PGA Tour tournaments and over 130 events across major professional tours.
Majlis Course at Emirates Golf Club
The Majlis Course was designed by Karl Litten and established in 1988 and holds the distinction of being the first grass course in the Middle East.
It regularly hosts the DP World Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic, which has been won by the likes of Seve Ballesteros, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy previously.
The course was built in and around desert dunes, maintaining much of the natural flora and fauna, and now with the backdrop of the Dubai skyline throughout the round.
