It was a second PGA Tour victory and first major Rai as he surged clear of a bunched field thanks to an eagle, birdie, par finish at Aronimink Golf Club.

The Englishman shot a five-under par final round to finish on nine-under par in the 2026 PGA Championship, three clear on Jon Rahm and Alex Smalley.

Rai, who is noted for wearing two gloves while playing as well as having iron head covers, claimed his first win on the PGA Tour came in the 2025 Wyndham Championship.

He won twice on the DP World Tour before heading to the PGA Tour, taking the titles at the Honma Hong Kong Open in 2018 and the Scottish Open in 2020. He then claimed a third win victory in the 2025 Abu Dhabi Championship.

Rai made his way through the ranks by winning the 2015 Glenfarclas Open on the PGA EuroPro Tour and the 2017 Kenya Open, Andalucía Costa del Sol Match Play and Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge on the Challenge Tour.

In 2026, Rai signed an ambassador deal with ECCO footwear.
