Former world number one Shin Ji-Yai landed victory in the 2024 Women’s Australian Open. A look at Shin Ji-Yai: What’s In The Bag.
The South Korean won the Women’s Australian Open in 2013 when at the height of the world game and 11 years later was victorious once again.
Ji-Yai finished on 17-under par at Kingston Heath Golf Club, two shots clear of Ashleigh Buhai as she denied the South African a hat-trick of victories in the event.
It was Ji-Yai’s 65th career win by the age of 36, including two major victories in the AIG’s Women’s Open in 2008 and 2012.
Those two wins, and the 2013 Australian Open victory, form part of 11 LPGA Tour titles. She also has six Ladies European Tour victories on her CV.
Having returned to Asia from the LPGA Tour in 2014, Shin has wracked up 30 LPGA of Japan Tour wins, 21 LPGA of Korea Tour wins, one Ladies Asian Golf Tour win and five WPGA Tour of Australasia wins.
