TaylorMade Stealth Woods Review

TaylorMade Stealth Fairway Woods

TaylorMade Stealth woods are new for 2022 and offer a mixture of distance gains and added forgiveness. How do the new Stealth fairways perform?

Part of the new Stealth family of drivers, hybrids and irons, the fairway woods feature two separate models – the Stealth and the Stealth Plus.

The Stealth woods take a traditional TaylorMade classic look with a twist of the modern as a 3D carbon crown is joined by a newly refined V Steel sole in the most forgiving fairways yet.

NEW FOR 2023: Review of the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Woods

What TaylorMade says about the Stealth Fairway Woods:

“Every golf bag needs an old reliable. The club that sits patiently among its peers, waiting until its name is called. The club that can be counted on to deliver when the pressure is on and the margin for error is razor thin.

“Introducing the Stealth fairway. With a 3D carbon crown designed for increased forgiveness and playability, it was made to be your new reliable.

“The all-new 3D carbon crown allowed engineers to shift weight lower and deeper in the clubhead. With a refined V Steel sole, this fairway is the ultimate mash up of distance and forgiveness.”

TaylorMade Stealth Woods Design & Features

The Stealth fairway woods feature an all-new 3D carbon crown and refined V Steel sole design to extract more distance and provide more feedback than in any previous models.

Unlike the Stealth drivers, which are a complete carbon construction including the face, the woods feature a C300 steel face. It features TaylorMade’s now standard Twist Face Technology for maximum distance even on off-centre strikes.

The Stealth fairways also have a new laser alignment system and etched pattern across the top of face to deliver improved aim and straighter ball striking as a result.

The crown is carbon and is a new 3D design, which has helped increased forgiveness. The lightweight construction has allowed weight to move lower and deeper for an optimal launch.

The V Steel sole design has been tweaked from previous models to produce better turf interaction and improved ball striking from a variety of lies.

TaylorMade’s Thru-Slot Speed Pocket, meanwhile, contributes to the impressive ball speeds and distance and from across the face.

The clubhead itself is 190cc and is larger than the Stealth Plus model, which is 175cc.

Verdict: Are the TaylorMade Fairway Woods any good?

While not as ground breaking as the Stealth driver, the woods have some subtle tweaks compared to the SIM Max 2 fairways.

The Stealth fairways appeal on looks, but the carbon crown and V Steel changes are the key elements that have help unleash added distance.

Price-wise, the new fairways will set you bag a significant amount. The performance is impressive but the small gains from your current woods might not be worth the outlay.
