The event was first held in 2015 as a new event on the PGA Tour and typically takes place on the same weekend as the Open Championship.

For the first time in 2022, the tournament is co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour and the European Tour.

The Barbasol Championship is played at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

The first three editions of the tournament where played at the Grand National course at Jones Golf Trail in Opelika, Auburn, Alabama.

Seamus Power is the reigning champion having won the event in 2021.

Other former winners of the event include Scott Piercy, Aaron Baddeley, Grayson Murray, Troy Merritt and Jim Herman.

The Barbasol Championship will be played over four rounds / 72 holes at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky, with a cut after the opening two rounds.
