Leading Australian PGA Championship Contenders

Min Woo Lee

Min Woo Lee headlines the home favourites after heading home following a strong 2025 campaign that including victory in the Houston Open on the PGA Tour.

Royal Queensland suits his power and creativity, and he has previous success in Brisbane including victory in 2023. With local support and aggressive scoring potential, Lee looks primed to challenge for the title again this week.

Joaquin Niemann

Joaquin Niemann is one of the most reliable winners in world golf and in 2025 he has already posted five victories on the LIV Golf circuit.

Niemann has previously travelled well to Australia, winning the Australian Open in 2023, and his ball‑striking consistency makes the Chilean a clear threat to spoil the home fans’ hopes at Royal Queensland.

Rasmus Neergaard‑Petersen

Rasmus Neergaard‑Petersen enjoyable a brilliant 2025 DP World Tour season – albeit without recording his first win.

The Dane has racked up eight top‑10 finishes this year, including a runner‑up in Qatar and a tie for third at the season‑ending DP World Tour Championship two weeks ago.

Marc Leishman

Marc Leishman brings proven class and vast Australian experience to his home event. He was runner-up in the Australian PGA in 2018 behind Cameron Smith.

If he finds a hot week with the putter, his track record on home soil and comfort in Australian crowds make him a dangerous mid‑range option at Royal Queensland.

Marco Penge

Marco Penge heads to Australia after an impressive year on the DP World Tour schedule with two wins and second place on the Order of Merit.

Penge has previous experience at Royal Queensland, having teed it up at the BMW Australian PGA Championship last season, and brings a blend of confidence that could translate into a serious title push this week.
