How do you arrange golf clubs in a 14 divider bag?

14-Way Divider Golf Bag

There are different methods of storing your golf clubs in your bag. We’ve collated how the team have there’s below.

Here’s a guide on how to organise a 14-way golf bag divider and some examples of club order that we like in the GolfReviewsGuide.com team.

Driver & Fairway Woods

Place your driver in the front slot, followed by your fairway woods. They are the longest clubs in your bag, and having them in the front makes it easy to access.

Recommended Order: Slot 1: Driver, Slot 2: 3-wood and Slot 3: 5-wood or 7-wood if you carry one

Hybrids & Irons

Across the middle two rows of slots, you can place your hybrids and irons as they are all shorter than fairway woods.

For ease of finding the right iron you want to use, you should be organise them in descending order (which is also descending lengths of club too).

Recommended Order: Slot 4: 3-hybrid, Slot 5: 4-hybrid, Slot 6: 5-iron, Slot 7: 6-iron, Slot 8: 7-iron, Slot 9: 8-iron, Slot 10: 9-iron.

You may carry more or less hybrids. If you do, just move the order around to suit your set up.

Wedges

Once again place your wedges in descending order of loft. These are typically the shortest clubs in your bag and are used for precise shots around the greens.

Recommended Order: Slots 11-13: Pitching wedge, Gap wedge (if you have one), Sand wedge and Lob wedge (if you have one).

If you have all four types of wedges, you will have one less wood, hybrid or iron so these will move up and start in slot 10.

Putter

Some golf bags have the putter slot integrated into the top club divider, which would mean you have 14 separate slots.

Other bags have the putter position close to the wedges in the shortest part of the bag. When it comes to the putter, choose the slot that suits your bag.

Organising your golf bag, whether it’s a 14-way top divider or a bag with a different number of dividers, isn’t set in stone. It should suit your needs.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on a logical way to organise your golf bag with individual slots for your golf set to fit:

Driver & Woods

  • Place your driver in the first slot, which is usually the largest.
  • Follow with your fairway woods, starting with the 3-wood and moving to the 5-wood if you have one.

Hybrids & Long Irons

  • Put your hybrids or long irons in the next slots in descending order of loft.
  • For example, if you have a 3-hybrid and a 4-hybrid, they come next.
  • If you have 3-irons and 4-irons instead, slot them here.

Irons

  • Continue with your mid and short irons, generally in ascending numerical order (5-iron, 6-iron, 7-iron, 8-iron, 9-iron).
  • Place these in the slots that follow the hybrids and long irons.

Wedges

  • Place your wedges in descending order of loft, starting with the pitching wedge.
  • Follow with any additional wedges like a gap wedge, sand wedge, and lob wedge, or which wedges you have in your set up.

Putter

  • Your putter typically has its own dedicated slot or well.
  • Place it in the designated putter slot, which is can be located on the outside of the bag for easy access.

Additional Clubs

  • If you have specialty clubs, such as a chipper, long putter, or other non-standard clubs, place them in any remaining slots according to your personal preference or based on how frequently you use them.

How do you organize clubs in a stand bag?

Aditi Ashok Bag

A stand bag isn’t really any different to a cart or trolley bag when is comes to organising the order of clubs.

The only difference is you are carrying this bag around and potentially won’t have 14-way dividers, or even 14 clubs from time to time.

You might want to consider slotting in your clubs based on how often you use them. Keep your most frequently used clubs in the top or most accessible slots for convenience.
