Ping Glide 4.0 wedges are the fourth generation of the popular model. What changes and improvements have been made in the latest release new for 2022?

The wedge range from Ping has always been solid performer, but more performance has been unearthed in the 4.0 model.

The new wedges feature a textured face blast to create more spin and have a softer feel than in previous versions. Tweaks have also been made to the lead edge, hosel and four separate sole grinds introduced.

Ping Glide 4.0 Wedges Design & Features

Ping had made evolutionary changes rather than revolutionary to the new Glide 4.0s, focusing on a new face design and four grind options to suit all games.

The face has a new Emery blast to work in harmony with the milled grooves to create more spin than in previous models and significantly a lower launch angle.

The club head in constructed from 8620 carbon steel while the elastomer insert has been made larger and softer for a much improved feel from a 36% greater face contact.

The wedge has been made slightly more rounded than previous generations of the Glides for a more pleasing look, and the lead edge and hosel transition and also been improved.

Four new sole grind options – the S, W, T and E – have been introduced to provide the perfect setup for golfers of all swing styles and angles of attack with their wedges.

The E Grind has a high toe, the W grind is the traditional design and the most forgiving, the S grind provides trail edge and heel relief and the T grind has high lead edge bounce.

The wedges are available in 46 to 60 degrees options depending on the grind required.

Verdict: Are Ping Glide 4.0 wedges any good?

The new wedges from Ping have been improved to produce even more spin and action on the putting green to hold, get check or zip your approaches.

The new face is largely responsible for that, but there is a lot softer feel to the fourth generation of this model.
