Takomo 101U Driving Irons Review (The Best Value LONG Utility Iron)

Takomo 101U Irons Review

Takomo 101U driving irons have been introduced by the popular brand to provide a stunning long game option utility iron to replace your hybrids.

Takomo have made quite the impression since being launched in 2021, with the 101 irons, 101T model, 201 and 301CB and 301MB proving to be incredibly popular.

The Ignis driver and Skyforger wedges were also added, and now we have stylish long, driving irons in the mix too as one of the best value distance irons.

The 101U is a hollow body design that can replace hybrids and work well with another of the other Takomo iron sets to form the perfect bag set. How do they perform? Our verdict is below.

Takomo 101 Utility Irons Specs & Design

The 101U irons are an interesting addition to the Takomo products and the long-game improvement irons that fans of the brand have been waiting for.

Featuring a hollow body design with a 431-carbon steel muscle-back cavity, they are designed for golfers with mid to fast swing speeds and are the continuation of the 101 series.

Branded as driving irons, they are a perfect alternative to hybrids and are relatively easy to strike thanks to a long length blade – making them an option for a variety of handicaps.

They are designed to be long from the tee, fairway or rough, but also provide plenty of forgiveness thanks to the perimeter weighting and thick sole.

The 101U irons also have a precision milled thin face to help generate impressive ball speeds, while the trajectory means you can hit bombs from any lie.

The 101U irons come in 2-iron (18 degrees), 3-iron (20 degrees) and 4-iron (22 degrees) options and can be purchased individually.

The irons comes with KBS Tour or KBS Tour Lite shafts (Regular/Stiff/X) options and Lamkin Crossline grips in right or left-handed clubs.

Takomo 101U Driving Irons Review: Are they any good?

Takomo have emerged as a real contender and the driving irons released only add to the appeal of this up-and-coming brand.

Longer irons would normally be associated with better players, but the forgiveness on offer from the 101U irons mean these have broad appeal.

Takomo 101U Irons

I normally have hybrids in the bag, but these are a great alternative. They are easy to hit, have plenty of forgiveness – particularly on those off center strikes – and performed very well when it comes to distance too.

The big selling point of the Takomo clubs is just how cheap they are and this is the case with the driving irons too. You will find they are cheaper than any similar performers on the market, be it rescues or irons.
