The 101U irons are an interesting addition to the Takomo products and the long-game improvement irons that fans of the brand have been waiting for.

Featuring a hollow body design with a 431-carbon steel muscle-back cavity, they are designed for golfers with mid to fast swing speeds and are the continuation of the 101 series.

Branded as driving irons, they are a perfect alternative to hybrids and are relatively easy to strike thanks to a long length blade – making them an option for a variety of handicaps.

Takomo have emerged as a real contender and the driving irons released only add to the appeal of this up-and-coming brand.

Longer irons would normally be associated with better players, but the forgiveness on offer from the 101U irons mean these have broad appeal.

I normally have hybrids in the bag, but these are a great alternative. They are easy to hit, have plenty of forgiveness – particularly on those off center strikes – and performed very well when it comes to distance too.
