Takomo Skyforger SF002 Wedges (Second Generation Model Reviewed)

The second generation of Takomo Skyforger wedges have been launched for 2025 with a new and improved design for the SF002 model.

The SF002 wedges were launched in July 2025 and are the latest evolution of Takomo’s short game design with some notable changes from the original Skyforger wedges including a more compact and minimalist look.

Takomo have made significant upgrades in design, versatility and performance compared to the SF001 wedges with the SF002 now complimenting the brand’s irons line-up better.

The SF002 now feature full-face grooves, a new micro-groove pattern across the face and most notably have been switched to a cast design for greater forgiveness and a more responsive feel.

Takomo Skyforger SF002 Wedges Specs & Design

The original Skyforger wedges were made from S20C carbon steel, but Takomo have switched to a cast design in the SF002 to allows more technology to be packed into the clubhead.

With the same cast build as the limited edition Bryan Brothers BB803 wedges, Takomo have been able to come up with greater forgiveness and a more responsive feel.

Interestingly, the Bryan Bros were also involved in the design of the SF002 as well as their own limited edition model.

The SF002 now has full-face grooves, which has been introduced to enhance both spin and control in your short game – especially on open-face shots and off-center strikes.

There is also a new micro-groove pattern across the face to deliver more consistent spin in all conditions, including wet weather.

A new alignment aid is also incorporated in the form of a painted bottom groove, which helps with setup and consistency.

In total, there are eight lofts available from 46 degrees to 60 degrees and two new grind options have been introduced compared to the SF001s with the V Grind and F Grind versions.

The V Grind is design for versatility with a narrow sole, higher bounce and rear taper for open-face play and higher shots, while the F Grind has a full and thicker sole, lower bounce and provides maximum forgiveness.
