TaylorMade 300 Mini Driver Review

TaylorMade 300 Mini Driver

The TaylorMade 300 Mini driver takes things all the way back to the companies roots. GolfReviewsGuide.com takes a look at the new 2022 addition.

While innovation and new design elements have been key in the launch of new drivers like the SIM2, TaylorMade have taken a backwards step with the new 300 Mini.

The compact head design was a big hit at the start of the millennium, and it is back with the 307cc club head having a very traditional look and feel to it.

What TaylorMade say about the 300 Mini Driver:

“Power comes in all shapes and sizes. The compact 300 Mini Driver relies on advanced multi-material construction to deliver the optimal blend of low-CG performance and high MOI forgiveness. Resulting in a truly unique design that’s powerful off the tee and playable ‘off-the-deck’.

“The 307cc head delivers an unmatched blend of distance, forgiveness and control. This progressive design breaks the mold and delivers greater forgiveness than a standard fairway metal. The proven corrective performance of Twist Face adds another level of playability.

“What the 300 Mini Driver lacks in stature, it makes up for in speed using the combination of a high-strength titanium face and Thru-Slot Speed Pocket to deliver fast ball speeds.

“This is the first TaylorMade metalwood in the 300cc-range since 2001. Both the design and name pay homage to the original 300 Series, an industry-defining line that launched the modern era of TaylorMade Golf.”

TaylorMade 300 Mini Driver Design & Features

The Mini driver is a walk back in time with TaylorMade designing a retro big stick with just a 307cc club head.

It brings the original 300 Series back to life with a modern twist of technology. There is much more forgiveness and control in the new version, as well as eye-catching distance.

TaylorMade’s now standard Twist Face Technology is incorporated in the Mini Driver, as is the Thru-Slot Speed Pocket that has been seen in the SIM and SIM 2 drivers.

The V Steel Sole design is one of the key design features. TaylorMade have come up with a sole plate that weights just 54g to help lower the CG and increase the MOI – producing a high launch with low levels of spin.

The driver comes in 11.5 degree and 13.5 degree options and is fully adjustable with up to 2 degrees available up or down on the loft and face angle.

TaylorMade 300 Mini Driver Verdict

The new TaylorMade driver has a very appealing look, perhaps too small in clubhead size for some looking for confidence over the ball.

The performance is second to none. Distance off the tee is impressive, as it the ability to hit high launch shots from the fairway.

The forgiveness on offer is also eye-catching and this is a fairway finder. It might be mini in stature, but it is mighty on what it delivers.
