The TaylorMade P790 UDI is a part of the popular P700 series with the Ultimate Driving Iron offering an alternative to woods and hybrids.

TaylorMade have top of the range M5 and M6 drivers and SIM drivers, as well as the M5 and M6 irons and SIM irons, but the forged P790 irons are another high-class options for lovers of the brand.

One of the options in the P790 irons in the UDI, a driving irons that TaylorMade are pitching to fill the gap between woods at the top end of your bag.

The UDI driving iron includes the SpeedFoam technology that is a key feature of the P790 irons inside a hollow body, and essentially just extends the range up to a 2-iron set to 17 degrees.

The unique SpeedFoam works in two ways, to increase ball speed at the same time as managing the sound and feel when it comes to ball striking.

SpeedFoam is a unique technology, which features an ultra light urethane foam injected inside the head, has allowed the P790 irons to stand out from the crowd – particurly with this driving iron.

The driving iron is produced in a carbon steel construction with a thin forged 4140 face, and also features TaylorMade’s Speed Pocket for more ball speed and forgiveness when it comes to off centre strikes.

The topline has been straightened and the club head made to look much cleaner, while the CG has been lowered by the presence of a new tungsten weight to produce a higher launch for added distance.

The fact the UDI has been in the bag of Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy and Jason Day, among others, since being launched underlines just how highly regarded the driving iron is.
