TaylorMade Qi Max Irons Have Straight Distance Promise For 2026 (Reviewed)

TaylorMade Qi Max Irons Review

TaylorMade have expanded their game improvement lineup for 2026 with the launch of the Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons.

Qi irons were previously released with just one model when launch two years ago, but there is now a Max model aimed at mid-to-high handicap golfers wanting all-round performance.

Both models – the standard Qi Max and higher-launching Qi Max HL – follow the Straight Distance philosophy that the Qi series of irons has been all about.

Released along with the Qi4D drivers, fairways and hybrids for 2026, TaylorMade have pushed the boundaries of forgiveness and launch to the next level to give distance, carry and less spin in equal measure.

Pros & Cons

โœ… Exceptional forgiveness with massive MOI and low CG making it incredibly easy to launch the ball from almost any lie
โœ… Improved feel from the internal stability bar and Echo Damper material
โœ… Slice correction thanks to the built-in draw bias which helps cure a fade
โŒ While distance is impressive, the strong lofts in the standard Max model might require careful gap testing with your wedges
โŒ The oversized profile, while confidence-inspiring, can feel bulky through thicker rough

TaylorMade Qi Max Irons Specs & Designs

The Qi Max irons are the latest generation of TaylorMade’s game improvement and features two models for 2026 – the standard Qi Max and Qi Max HL.

The Qi Max is designed for maximum stability, while the Qi Max HL (High Launch) version is tailored for players with slower swing speeds.

The new series utilizes an Integrated Design System that optimizes each individual iron head for a specific performance goal.

Central to this is the Cap Back Design with Toe Wrap Construction, which combines the speed of a hollow-body iron with the stability of a traditional cavity back.

The design has allowed TaylorMade to shift mass lower in the head to help reposition the CG and increase the MOI for more forgiveness than in previous versions.

The irons featuresย FLTD CGย (Flighted Center of Gravity) typically seen in the P-Series, positioning CG lowest in the long irons to maximize launch and progressively raising it in the short irons for better trajectory control.

Theย Speed Pocket is included in the 4-iron to 8-iron to protect ball speed on low-face strikes to maintain significant distance even on off-center impacts.

Meanwhile, the new HYBRAR Echo Dampers design helps absorb unwanted vibrations to deliver a more forged-like feel that you might expect from TaylorMade’s P Series.

TaylorMade Qi Max Irons Face

TaylorMade has implemented a patented face technology in the new irons that controls flexibility and provides more flex across the face to reducing cut spin and help players hit straighter shots more often.

The Qi Max irons are available from 4-iron (18.5 degrees) to Lob Wedge (58 degrees). The Qi Max HL has 3 degree weaker lofts for easier launch from โ€‹5-iron (23.5 degrees) to Sand Wedge (55 degrees).
