TaylorMade Qi irons are new for 2024 and being described as the “straightest distance irons in golf”. Do they live up to it?
Launched along with the new Qi10 driver, fairway woods and hybrids in January 2024, TaylorMade are taking forgiveness to the next level – and the irons are no exception.
Described to be the straightest TaylorMade irons in golf, the Qi irons are designed to deliver a consistent ball flight rather than correct left-to-right fade and slices like other game improvement irons do.
The question is are they any good? Do they perform better than predecessor the Stealth irons and which type of golfer do they suit? We take a look.

TaylorMade Qi Irons Specs & Design
TaylorMade’s entire Qi10 range is all about taking forgiveness levels to a unchartered territory and the irons certainly achieve that.
Marketed with the promise of being the straightest distances irons in golf, they differ from other game-improving irons by not being weighted to cure a left-to-right ball flight of a fade or a slice.
Instead, the Qi irons are crafted to promote a straight ball flight regardless of swing path – and they achieve that thanks to the combination of a range of technologies.
The hollow-body iron head takes the best of a forgiving cavity back with the looks and shape of a blade in one complete package delivering impressive ball speeds and accuracy.
The key is the combination of TaylorMade’s Cap Back Design, the now familiar Speed Pocket technology behind the face and new HYBRAR Echo Dampers to reduce vibration, sound and feel.
TaylorMade’s design team have incorporated FLTD CG in the Qis from the P770 and P790 irons, with this element moving the center of gravity position through the set.
Low in the long irons, the CG shifts higher as you work through the bag and it ensures forgiveness, accuracy and distance and equal from 4-iron through to wedges.
The Qi irons are available from 4-iron (23.5 degrees) to Sand Wedge (54 degrees). There is also a TaylorMade Qi HL version of the irons, which are ultralite and designed for golfers with slower swing speeds.

TaylorMade Qi Irons Review: Are they any good?
The Qi irons are TaylorMade’s game improving irons and boy do they achieve that, building on the performance of the Stealths by adding more consistency.
It’s a big statement to say they are the straightest irons on the market, but they are certainly a very forgiving option for mid handicap or high handicap golfers who need it most.
TaylorMade have made some incremental gains in distance from the Qi10s, but the accuracy on offer is what this model is all about and they look set for a big 2024.

What TaylorMade says about the Qi irons:
“It’s no surprise that golfers tend to miss to the right. That’s why the Qi irons are designed to be the straightest distance irons in golf.
“Unlike other game improvement irons that actually favor a right miss, ours are meticulously designed for precision and control because straight distance is the best distance.
“This suite of technologies allows us to optimize each individual iron head.
“Driven by organic face geometries, Cap Back Design and the Speed Pocket, this comprehensive approach tunes the performance of each head to promote ideal gapping, exemplary ball speeds as well as consistently straighter shots throughout the set.
“This innovative construction blends the advantages of a hollow-body iron with those of a traditional cavity back. In addition to optimizing mass properties, it works in unison with the HYBRAR Echo Dampers to reduce unwanted vibrations and deliver a satisfying sound and feel.
“FLTD CG strategically positions the center of gravity (CG) lowest in the long irons and progressively shifts higher throughout the set. The design produces better launch and playability in long irons with increased control in the scoring clubs.”
